Australian GST

Last updated: June 26, 2026

Australia requires Lifted to collect Goods and Services Tax (GST) on certain services unless a valid Australian Business Number (ABN) is on file and your company is registered for GST.

Affected services may include subscription, billing, and payroll fees. To avoid GST charges, submit a valid ABN to your account team or Lifted Support.

Examples of services that GST may apply to include:

  • Service fees

  • Overage fees

  • Subscription fees

  • Billing fees

  • Fees associated with pre-identified talent engagements

  • Payroll service fees

  • Service fees for engagements with non-U.S.-based talent

  • Service fees for engagements with U.S.-based talent

When we charge tax, it’s because your government requires us to. This means the tax may change or apply to additional services in the future.

Provide an ABN

If you provide a valid ABN to Lifted and are registered for GST, we will not be required to collect GST from you once your GST registration is verified.

For questions about how Lifted handles GST in Australia, or to submit your ABN, contact your account team or Lifted Support.

FAQ's

Who has to pay GST?

Australia’s GST applies to services we provide to customers and talent who reside, have a permanent address, or are established in Australia and have not provided us with a valid ABN.

Why are you collecting GST?

We’re required to comply with the tax laws of the countries where we operate. Australia requires us to collect GST on applicable Lifted services and remit it to the Australian government unless we have a valid ABN on file for your company.

What services are subject to GST?

Examples of services that GST may apply to include:

  • Service fees

  • Overage fees

  • Subscription fees

  • Billing fees

  • Fees associated with pre-identified talent engagements

  • Payroll service fees

  • Service fees for engagements with non-U.S.-based talent

  • Service fees for engagements with U.S.-based talent

This list is not static, and the types of taxable fees may change if tax regulations change.

Do you still collect GST if my company provides Lifted with a valid ABN?

No. If your company provides a valid ABN and is registered for GST, we will not be required to collect and remit GST for your company.
