Review and Approve Milestones

Last updated: June 29, 2026

Milestone contracts allow clients and talent to agree on a fixed scope of work for a fixed price.  Contracts can include a single milestone or multiple milestones for different project stages or deliverables, however the parties agree to structure their engagement.

Payment is tied to the completion and approval of milestone deliverables rather than hours worked.

Once the agreed work is completed, the talent submits the milestone for your review and approval.

Milestone Submission

When milestone deliverables are complete, the talent submits the work for your review.

A milestone submission should include:

  • The completed deliverables.

  • Any supporting files or documentation.

  • A summary of the completed work, if applicable.

  • Any other items the parties agree on.

Once submitted, the milestone enters the review period.

Review and Approval

After a milestone is submitted, you have 14 days to review the deliverables and approve the submission.

If no action is taken within 14 days, the milestone is automatically approved.

Review Submitted Milestones

To review a submitted milestone:

  1. Go to the corresponding Contract.

  2. Open the submitted milestone.

  3. Review the submitted work or deliverable.

  4. Select Approve or Reject.

If You Approve

The milestone moves into payment processing and the security period.

If You Reject

The milestone is returned to the talent for correction.

  • You will have the opportunity to comment and provide feedback on the rejection in the notes field for the talent to review

  • The talent can review and update the deliverables.

  • There is no deadline for resubmitting a rejected milestone.

  • Once resubmitted, you receive a new review period to approve or reject the submission.

Milestone Lifecycle

A typical milestone follows this process:

  1. Work is completed.

  2. The milestone is submitted for review.

  3. You review the deliverables.

  4. You approve or reject the submission.

  5. Approved milestones move to payment processing.

  6. Rejected milestones can be updated and resubmitted.
